Township 7 Benchmark Series Viognier 2019

Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaI'm not a fan of the big, fat, rich, creamy, overripe style of viognier that tends to dominate the category. That is why I love this Benchmark Series label that is more like an elegant, refined sparkling wine, sans the bubbles. The fruit comes off two vineyards: Raju Vineyard in Osoyoos and Fool's Gold Vineyard in Oliver. Despite being warm somehow, this wine is focused on juicy pink grapefruit and lime that stay fresh from front to back. 2019 was a moderately cool vintage, and you see its vibrant effort. It is great late-day patio wine you can pair with some favourite tapas or bites, including creamy cheeses.Tasted: 19 March 2021Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
