Muga Rioja Rosado 2019

Rioja, SpainA blend of tempranillo, garnacha, and viura, from clay-limestone soils at 480m in Rioja's upper Najerilla district, this iconic Spanish rosado is referred to locally as clarete, which is a lighter type of rosé made by combining white wine with direct press rosé, as opposed to the saignée method. Also, unlike the vast majority of other rosés, this one also sees a brief period of time in used oak barrels (a hallmark of the Bodega, one of the historic cellars of La Rioja). Crisp, crunchy, and bright, with cherries, strawberries, stones on a silky palate, framed with spice, and freshened by brisk grapefruit acidity. This has a lovely balance, making it particularly food-friendly. Now only if they'd move to screwcap...Tasted: 04 March 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
