Black Hills Carménère 2018

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaWinemaker Ross Wise has been busy tweaking the wines at Black Hills, and this carmenere is a good example. At 12.6 percent alcohol, he awakens the fruit, leaving the warm, dead fruit flavours that mark many south Okanagan red wines for a fresher, more nimble palate. The nose is classic Chilean carmenere with that crushed dried leaf scent mixed with jalapeno. The palate is a mix of smoky, meaty, cedary, peppery notes with black cherries and sweet brown spices. Ready to drink and best with powerful grilled meat dishes like lamb or roasted pork. The price is a bit too ambitious.Tasted: 19 March 2021Tasted by: Prices:
