Rocca delle Macie Tenuta Sant'Alfonso Chianti Classico 2017

Tuscany, ItalyRocca delle Macìe was founded in 1973 by legendary film producer Italo Zingarelli. His impressive film career allowed him to fulfill his dream to produce wine. His son, Sergio, oversees the operations today. This CC comes from Tenuta Sant'Alfonso, a 40ha single vineyard site. This is rooted in clay soils, at 300m, giving a weighted expansiveness to the palate. The wine rested in 35hl French barrels. Lush and generous on the supple palate, yet still firmly structural, with long, raging tannins. Ripe cherry, ripe strawberry, perfumed plum, anise, and earth fill the mid, finishing with a bitter espresso spiced note. At this youthful time, best taken with grilled pork or lamb, but better with time in the cellar.Tasted: 16 February 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
