La Braccesca Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 2015

Tuscany, ItalyAntinori's La Braccesca estate in Toscana sprawls over 508 hectares, including 340 hectares of vineyards. This prugnolo gentile (sangiovese grosso, from the town of Montepulciano) is splashed with merlot, fermented and rested in large oak casks for a year. It gets another year bottle rest before release. Dark, brooding, sultry spices opens this fuller wine, rolling with cassis, salted black cherry, and dried blackberry fruit. There's a potent undercurrent of leather and thorns on the supple, full palate, all framed with ample tannins now showing some smoothing polish from time. The finish is potent with espresso and baking spices. Showing a bit of age now in the glass, this is at a good point for drinking, especially with rich, hearty braises.Tasted: 04 February 2021Tasted by: Prices:
