Domaine Steeve Charvet Chiroubles 2018

Chiroubles, Beaujolais Villages, Beaujolais, Burgundy, FranceThe Charvet family has farmed this Chiroubles-based estate for more than 6 generations. Today, Steeve Charvet oversees their 7 hectares of vines, including the Crus of Chiroubles and Morgon. The 2018 Chiroubles was bottled earlier than normal to compensate for Steeve's loss of the 2016 vintage, and 40% of the 2017 crops. From 40 year old vines rooted in steep sandy and granite slopes, this was 20% destemmed and native fermented before aging 6 months in concrete. Layers of cherry, plum, perfumed peony are well woven around a pure-fruited plummy core, wrapped with fine grained, lightly grippy tannins, and finishing with pink peppercorn spicing and mineral salts. A modest little charmer, gentle yet lively, and with great typicity for Chiroubles.Tasted: 06 February 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
