Domaine de l'Ecu Classic Muscadet 2019

Muscadet, Pays Nantais, Loire, FranceDomaine de l'Ecu has been farming its 27 hectares without chemicals since 1972, and has been biodynamically certified since 1988. The Domain was groundbreaking in its isolation of wines by soil type (Gneiss, Orthogneiss, and Granite), showing how the profound differences in terroir affect melon de bourgogne. They also own more than 30 amphorae, ranging from 150, 300, to 450 liters. The grapes for Classic come from 35 year old vines. After a native ferment in concrete, this aged on lees in underground vats covered with glass tiles for 14 months. Textural and complete with green and yellow apple, bosc pear, apple blossom, fine lees, livened by a slight intentional spritz, and finishing with lingering salinity. Quite a compelling wine considering this is their 'entry' muscadet.Tasted: 25 February 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
