Fernando de Castilla Manzanilla NV

Sherry Jerez - Manzanilla, SpainBodegas Rey Fernando de Castilla was founded in 1837, purchased and revitalized in 1999 by Jan Pettersen (a Norweigian with 15 years at Osborne). Jan also took over the cellars of Jose Bustamante next door and quickly established Fernando de Castilla as one of the region’s finest small, independent sherry houses. From the estate vineyard Pago Balbaino, and its white albariza soils containing 70-80% limestone, this was aged in the Solera in Sanlúcar de Barrameda for an average of 3 years. Marine fresh, with ample saline notes running the sleek palate, carrying green apple, lemon pith, marcona almonds, on a tangy, crispy, bone dry palate. Very well balanced, this is the ideal wine to pour alongside cured sardines, olives, and roasted almonds.Tasted: 17 January 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
