Corcelettes Chardonnay Micro Lot Series 2019

Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaOctober 10, 2019, marked the beginning of a chardonnay revival at Corcellettes Estate Winery. I haven't seen a chardonnay since the early days of Lawrence Herder and from the predecessor Herder Vineyards. The style is a complete reverse from a heavy, almost ponderous California style that was oak-driven and too much for the freshness and weight of the Similkameen fruit. In 2019 a small crop of chardonnay was barrel fermented in 25% new French oak and put through a full malolactic fermentation during bâttonage. It's a cool climate affair that opens with fresh green apple and a creamy texture thanks to all that lees stirring. On the palate, it begins with a citrus butter entry and follows with a selection of tropical fruit before finishing up just a bit short. A great start, but I would like to see a bit more complexity in the future. Ready to drink.Tasted: 30 January 2021Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
