Wirra Wirra Church Block Cabernet Shiraz Merlot 2017

McLaren Vale, South Australia, AustraliaChurch Block was the first wine produced under the Wirra Wirra label back in 1972. The name came from one of the original vineyards, next to the small Bethany Church (1854) in McLaren Vale. This is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, and Merlot from various growers. It was matured in a mix of French and American oak (10% new) of varying sizes. Ripe black fruit is cut with savoury dark chocolate, bay laurel, tobacco, and black olive on the full palate. Tannins are big, but well integrated, leaving a bitter black cherry lingering on the finish. Partner with a hearty root veg stew to best effect.Tasted: 17 November 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
