Taylor Fladgate Very Old Single Harvest Port 1970

Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, PortugalI have to say these 50-year-old releases by Taylor Fladgate are a home run wine idea if only because they hold one of the most extensive reserves of very old cask aged Port of any producer in the Douro, or the world for that matter. Part of that collection is a whack of rare Single Harvest Ports aged to full maturity in seasoned oak casks that we are now enjoying on their 50th anniversary. The 1970 release is number seven in the series, and I think one of the best. The nose and the palate are off the charts in intensity, seemingly layer after layer of luscious, mellow flavours of coffee, butterscotch, walnuts, cigar, and candied citrus. The finish goes on forever. A fabulous gift for any 50th celebration. Ready to drink and does not require decanting.Tasted: 26 November 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
