Alta Mora Etna Rosso 2015

Sicily, ItalyAlta Mora belongs to the Cusumano family, and was the chance to fulfill a lifelong dream for the Cusumano brothers. This nerello mascalese comes from the high altitude, black, dynamic soils on the slopes of active Mount Etna, reflected in the name of the winery (Alta Mora). The vineyards are planted up to 1000m. After a month-long maceration and ferment, this finished MLF in stainless before heading to 2000L barrels for a short stint. Now browning a little with age, the vibrant fruit is showing some autumnal notes, with dried cherry creeping in amongst black currant, and balsamic notes. Tannins are well integrated, hugging this to the spiced finish. Would be prime now with grilled mushrooms or pork dishes. apes contribute gritty tannins and vibrant acidity.Tasted: 20 November 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
