CedarCreek Platinum John Simes Vineyard Pinot Gris 2019

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis 0.5-hectare north-facing vineyard is the coolest, latest ripening site on the eastern shores of Okanagan Lake, and the perfect source for this electric pinot gris. The fruit is certified organic, as are the yeasts fermented in a mix of stainless steel, concrete, and oak. The wine is fragrant with a reductive, leesy, citrus note that excites aficionados, and leaves casual drinkers less than enthused. Be that as it may, it is a terifffic bottle of wine offering bright citrus, lemon, lime, and stony minerality with texture and length. Complex and thought-provoking, this is more like Fruili and amen to that. Nice touch to name this wine after John Simes, recognizing his role in laying the foundation for all of Anthony von Mandel's wines.
