Lieu Dit Melon 2018

Santa Maria Valley, Santa Barbara County, Central Coast, California, United StatesLieu Dit is a partnership garagiste operation between two friends: Justin Railsback, sommelier; and Justin Willett, winemaker. They came together to produce low intervention wines in cooler Santa Barbara County, using only Loire Valley grapes. This older vine melon comes from the lauded Bien Nacido region, an ideal place to capture the grape's marine-trinsic nature. Crisp and bright with lemon pith, river stone, a fine slick of lees, and a fine chalky definition that lingers on the finish. This lithe wine clocks in at a welcome 11.7%, ideal for cracking into with freshly shucked oysters. Well done capturing the spirit of this Atlantic grape, off the Pacific.Tasted: 11 September 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
