Clos de los Siete 2017

Valle de Uco, Tunuyán, Central Region, Mendoza, ArgentinaFrom Canton de Tunuyàn, in Vistaflores, Valle de Uco, the posh 2017 Michel Rolland-led Clos de la Siete is a blend of 52% Malbec, 21% Merlot, 15% Syrah, 7% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot, and 2% Cabernet Franc. The grapes were grown on clay / sand soils at 1100m. Post-ferment, this spent 11 months in 70 % in French oak (1/3 new), with the remainder in stainless vats, until bottling, without fining or filtration. Smooth as silk, with ample perfumed violets, iris, ripe blueberries showing malbec's dominance in the blend. Right behind is a hug of plummy merlot, before the structure of cabernet sauvignon chimes in with some medicinal cherry notes. This is meant for drinking now, upon release, but will certainly suit short term cellaring. Whenever you crack, grilled beef and veg needs be on the menu, as intended.Tasted: 20 September 2020Tasted by: Prices:
