Castello di Bossi Chianti Classico 2016

Castelnuovo Berardenga, Siena, Tuscany, ItalyFrom the commune of Castelnuovo Beradenga, in the southernmost part of the Chianti Classico appellation, there have been vineyards dotting these gently rolling hills since 1200. The current family has owned the estate, tucked into the west of the commune, since 1998, when they also employed Alberto Antonini as consultant. Planted to yellow clays, tuff, and gravel, this 100% sangiovese is flush with morello cherry, dark plum, on a slightly plump palate. Tannins are appropriately striated, chalky, and firm, drawing this to a stony, warming finish. From the excellent 2016 vintage, this is drinking well now (especially with a decant) but will reward with cellaring.Tasted: 10 September 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
