Peak Cellars Pinot Noir 2018

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis was my first go at the point noir since its inception. We have had early glimpses at some early releases but nothing like this. As the project in Carrs Landing unfolds, it is clear this will be the cornerstone red wine at O’Rourke’s Peak Cellars. In 2018 the pinot came with a wealth of vitality. The nose has an earthy forest floor style of aromatics, a little Oregon, a little New Zealand and a lot of BC. Dark red cherry fruits dominate with bits of dark chocolate, desert scrub, spice, and floral notes. The textures are equally alluring, and the complexity attracts from front to back. On the palate, the wine continues to build with darker fruit flavours, and more rooty, cedar and bitter marmalade notes. Impressive young and not near ready, but you can enjoy this now or wait for it to come around over the next three to five years.Tasted: 29 August 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
