Luke Lambert Chardonnay 2018

Yarra Valley, Victoria, AustraliaLuke Lambert's top chardonnay, this rings with cool climate Yarra minerality. From the same vineyard as his Syrah, these 23 year old vines grow on a layer of volcanic soils over granite studded yellow clays, on a higher altitude, windy site. After a native ferment and ample oxidative handling, this was aged 9 months in older puncheons, and bottled without fining or filtration. Waves of flint stride through a savoury edged palate, led by granite, white grapefruit pith, quince, green pear. The body is sveltely lees-shaped, acidity is lip-smacking, and the finish is lengthy and saline. Serious, age-worthy chardy.Tasted: 01 August 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
