Clos du Soleil Estate Reserve Red 2016

Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaI've tasted a number of great wines from the 2016 vintage, and this is one of the best yet. It's a wow wine: not in its ripeness or richness, but rather its detail, elegance, and transparency. It keeps drawing you back in, with layers of vibrant black fruits, dried herbs, cedar, and crushed stones. This wouldn't be out of place in a line-up of Bordeaux classified growths. Not because this wine is trying to be something that it's not, but because it's that good. It’s drinking exceptionally well now thanks not only to its refined tannins and juicy acidity, but also the fact that the winery has kept this back in the cellar prior to release. A complete wine that will continue to age gracefully for years; you'll look back and wonder how you bought this for just over $50.Tasted: 21 August 2020Tasted by: Prices:
