Rocky Creek Pinot Gris 2019

Cowichan Valley, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, CanadaThere are two pinot gris labels in play at Rocky Creek in 2019. One was made by the recently graduated winemaker and daughter Robin Holford, the other by her father Mark Holdford, chief winemaker and co-owner. Mark’s regular vintage gris is the winery’s orange, or skin-contact wine. It is the best yet with less of those astringent skin tones and more enticing tropical melon notes dressed in citrus and apple flavours. A short skin contact adds some mouthfeel and results in a unique orange colour. The finish is clean and tangy in an orange way. The winery match for this style of gris is butternut squash ravioli.Tasted: 12 July 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
