Le Vieux Pin Equinoxe Syrah 2016

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaEquinoxe is the top of the syrah chain at Le Vieux Pin, and refers to the heat of the day equalling the cool of the night. In 2016, the south Okanagan fruit grown by winemaker Severine Pinte spent 19 months in 58 percent new French oak. As fine as 2016 was for most varietals, the syrah story was different, and in this case, late, as Pinte and company waited for the grapes to ripen deep into the fall. It was worth the wait to get the rich, brambly red and black fruit and the savoury, desert scrub spiked with licorice and pepper. There are some grippy tannins in the back end, suggesting you wait two to three years to attack this bottle. If you must drink it now, the winery suggests serving it with black pepper-crusted New York Steak.Tasted: 16 June 2020Tasted by: Prices:
