L'Acadie Vineyards Vintage Cuvée Rosé 2016

Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia, CanadaAntique pink in colour, this Annapolis Valley sparkler is made from 43% maréchal foch which makes it interesting from the get-go, given that foch is not a common red grape for bubbles. The aromas present a mix of ripe strawberry, citrus, and greenery, with caramel, toast, and raisin danish, all yeast-derived scents from two years of bottle age. Chardonnay and l'acadie blanc make up the balance of the fruit and you can feel their lightness and brightness in the lemony, apply flavours. Super fresh with cranberry tartness, frisky mousse, and generous amounts of toasted brioche in the background, this is full of interest and racy personality. Essentially dry, a burst of vivid red berries punctuate the finish. Crab salad, popcorn shrimp, or aged cheese and crackers will do just fine. Winemaker Bruce Ewert clearly has a elevating touch with complex hybrid grapes like maréchal foch and l'acadie.Tasted: 03 July 2020Tasted by: DJ KearneyPrices:
