Hester Creek Terra Unica Sémillon 2019

Golden Mile Bench, Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaSémillon remains a rare sighting in BC, but when you come across one, it usually overdelivers and begs the question, why isn't there more? Well, the short story is folks don't buy it. Long story short is you can find these wines, and they are terrific buys. A lot of sémillon finds its way into sauvignon blanc, but as the Australians have proven, it can go it alone too. The vines are now over two decades old, signalling great possibilities. It is grown on the Golden Mile Bench, a fine piece of terroir. It is all whole berry pressed, and stainless steel fermented with a small portion of barrel-fermented fruit that helps to plump up the texture. The attack is ripe with bright acidity to balance the sweetness, alongside grapefruit, tangerine, sweet limes, and quince. Well done and excellent value.Tasted: 14 July 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
