Finca Decero Cabernet Sauvignon Remolinos Vineyard 2017

Agrelo District, Luján de Cuyo, Northern Region, Mendoza, ArgentinaFinca Decero is a vineyard that was carved out of its landscape from ‘scratch’ or ‘decero’ as they say in Spanish. The winery philosophy is less is more, to allow the character of the 3500-foot-high Remolinos Vineyard in Agrelo to shine through the wine. The ‘remolinos’ reference is to the whirlwinds that sweep through the countryside keeping the grapes dry and in perfect condition. This wine is leaned out a bit of late and is showing more terroir and less Napa, and that is a good thing. It is still powerful, aromatic, and spicy with big cedar and red and black cherry, but with a stony, mineral undercut. Cabernet fans will drink this now. Wine fans will prefer to wait three to five years. Prime rib, lamb, or T-bone steak would be an excellent match.Tasted: 19 June 2020Tasted by: Prices:
