Carm Grande Reserva Douro Tinto 2014

Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, PortugalCARM stands for Casa Agrícola Roboredo Madeira, a joint venture between six properties in the Douro Superior, sharing 90 hectares of vines. This blend of Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, and Touriga Nacional spent one year in new French oak. This Grande Reserva is felt before it's tasted through the heft of its weighty bottle. Once uncorked, the potency of ripe fruit, wood, alcohol hits like a train. Thick on the palate, with ripe blackberry, dark cherry, cassis, darting florals, housed by toasty, raging tannins. The finish is warming, with a flush of peppercorns to season. Still a massive wine, it is only beginning to soften in the glass now (I decanted 24 hours in advance of tasting).Tasted: 04 July 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
