Trapiche Reserve Malbec 2018

Mendoza, ArgentinaThis shows brambly black fruits with a healthy amount of mocha and oak spices from aging nine months in barrel. But the fruit, though simple, is pure, and remains front and centre, which isn’t always common at this price point. You can tell there’s been a conscious effort to retain freshness: it’s more medium-bodied than full, and clocks in at a relatively moderate 13.5% abv. This is what Tuesday night wines are all about. Pour a glass, lightly chilled, to enjoy on its own while you fire up the barbecue, then pair this with an array of grilled meats. Good value.Tasted: 19 June 2020Tasted by: Geoffrey Moss MWPrices:
