Mt. Boucherie Syrah 2018

British Columbia, CanadaSourced from vineyards throughout the Okanagan and Similkameen, this was aged in a mixture of neutral French and American oak. As far as BC Syrah goes, this is certainly on the savoury side and all the better for it. It shows a spicy, smoky nose of cracked pepper, fennel, and salami alongside plummy fruit. The palate doesn’t quite have the same depth, but there's impressive freshness given the 14.1% abv. However, the tannins are rather hard, stunting the finish. A medium-rare burger topped with peppercorn bacon should do the trick nicely.Tasted: 15 June 2020Tasted by: Geoffrey Moss MWPrices:
