Covert Farms Pinot Noir Grand Reserve 2017

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis is a single block pinot noir from 18 year old vines in Mimi's Block, located on the northwestern edge of Covert's expansive estate. Aged for 21 months in French oak, the nose is led by lavish oak spices with lifted, candied red fruits that are already slightly evolved. It’s a bigger style of pinot that’s more about weight than subtlety, with blocky tannins and moderate acidity that finishes tart. I’d like to see a bit more concentration and freshness to the fruit, but fans of bold California pinot noir will find a lot to like here.Tasted: 18 June 2020Tasted by: Geoffrey Moss MWPrices:
