Bartier Bros. The Goal 2017

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaMichael Bartier labels this red The Goal to honour the 1955 World Champion Penticton Vees hockey team, suggesting hard work is always worth recognition. It is grown on the Black Sage Gravel Terrace just southeast of downtown Oliver at Cerqueira Vineyard, home to dry loam topsoils over granitic feldspar sand, and gravels. The blend is an 88/12 mix of merlot /syrah that ages 16 months in 225 L neutral French barrels. It is a classic Bartier. Light handed, fresh mineral-based red and black fruits are perfectly balanced with enough tannins to age three to five years gracefully and well beyond under screwcap. It may be the best yet for this label. Steak anyone?Tasted: 13 June 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
