Stina Cuvée Red 2018

Croatian Coast, Coastal Croatia, CroatiaStina Winery opened on Broc Island in 2009 when Jako Vino rented a building from the Agricultural Cooperative of Bol, on the Dalmatian coast. Wine had been made in the building, “The first Dalmatian Wine Cooperative” since 1901. This is a blend of local grape plavac mali, along with syrah, cabernet sauvignon and merlot. The international grapes are an attempt to reach a broader international audience, though the plavic mali (a cross between crljenak kaštelanski (ancestral zinfandel) and dobričić) is the star here. Open this gutsy red in advance for best results. Then the perfumed mulberry, cassis, thorny wild plum, and dried cherry emerge beyond the rustic hewn tannins. There's a lot of ripeness here, and ample wood, making this gusty red a suitable partner for grilled sausages or stew.Tasted: 02 May 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
