Orofino Home Vineyard Wild Ferment Old Vines Riesling 2018

Cawston, Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe Home Vineyard 21B riesling clone is responsible for this delicious wine, on the cusp of celebrating 30 years in the sandy, loamy, gravels of the Similkameen valley. The berries are destemmed and cool fermented on native yeast for a long time in old French barrels. Think complexity in and amongst vibrant fruit. It’s been a while since I have visited these wines, but clearly, the winemaking is much wiser, and the ability to expose the stony mineral wet stone aspect of these old vines has taken this wine to another level. Apricot and limes is jolted with a captivating acidity that makes you want to empty the bottle immediately. Throw in a savoury element and outstanding balance, and you have a unique wine that should scare the Old World. Oh, and under screwcap, this will live forever in the bottle. Back up the truck if there is any left.Tasted: 01 May 2020Tasted by: Prices:
