Di Majo Norante Contado Riserva 2014

Molise, ItalyThe Di Majo family is the largest and most important producer in Molise, and have been producing wines in the region since 1800. Alessio Di Majo is the current generation in charge of the 85 hectare, organically farmed estate. This aglianico comes from Camarda vineyard's sandy clay slopes, at 200m altitude. After one month maceration and fermentation, this spent 3 years in barriques and tonneaux. Well worn with time, this offers up plump, softened black plums, dusky cassis, wild thorny, salted spices on a deep, expansive, textural palate, weighted with ripeness and age, but straightened with a still-stern acidity, perfectly pitched to the heft of the wine. Aglianico's raging tannins are just now worn appropriately, making this eminently enjoyable with hearty braised dishes or ragu.Tasted: 31 May 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
