Coolshanagh Pinot Noir 2017

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaCoolshanagh Pinot is a bit of a mystery wine, as in, it is hard to find. It is probably best to join the club to ensure any supply. Skip and Judy Stothert own the winery; the wine is ably made at Okanagan Crush Pad by winemaker Matt Dumayne, a Kiwi with a long history of making pinot noir in New Zealand, Oregon, and now British Columbia. Matt is inspired by the minimalist techniques of Burgundy, and he employs them in almost all of his wines. The vineyard is a tiny gem located at the northern boundary of the Naramata Bench at the Chute Lake cut off. The style is rudimentary in the right way, with silky textures, refined spice, and beautiful red fruit with just a whisp of desert scrub and pine tree. Mineral and vibrant, this is a delicious bottle of wine reminiscent of Cru Beaujolais with the charm and finesse of Côte de Beaune.Tasted: 21 May 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
