Tantalus Pinot Noir 2018

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis estate pinot noir is a mix of plots, and clones, all native fermented in small lots, and with 20-40% whole bunches. After 18-35 days on skins, the wine moved into oak barriques (25% new) for 11 months, before blending and and returning to barrel until the following spring when it was bottled unfined and unfiltered. Dark damson plum, black cherry, black raspberry, thorns floods the fleshy palate, ringed with smoke, seasoned with graphite, and framed by wood-hewn tannins. Very much in youth, this is one of the gutsier pinot noirs you've tried, now. Give it some time in bottle to mellow before pouring with grilled duck or pork or roasted wild mushroom.Tasted: 28 April 2020Tasted by: Prices:
