Sartori Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore 120 Anniversary 2015

Pedemonte Valpolicella, Verona, Veneto, ItalyThis limited edition Valpo Ripasso Superiore was released for the winery's 120th anniversary, and comes from old vines on overhead pergola, Veronese-style. This blends 55% Corvina Veronese, 25% Corvinone, 15% Rondinella, 5% Croatina. After a stainless ferment, this was racked to concrete prior to the Ripasso fermentation, where the wine passed over leftover Amarone fermentation skins, soaking up additional aromas and tannins. Rich and concentrated with dried black cherries, rum soaked prunes, baked blackberries, on a plump, ripe, worn leathery palate, ending with a sweet vanillin note. Tannins are soft and sticky, and the finish is filled with peppery spices. The concentration in this wine calls for equally concentrated foods.Tasted: 01 April 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
