Mon Coeur Côtes du Rhône 2017

Côtes du Rhône, Rhone Valley, FranceJean-Louis Chave, like many of his competitors, makes "négociant" wines to showcase the appellations he works within the Rhone. The Côtes du Rhône 'Mon Coeur' is a blend of four distinct terroirs located in and around Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Though the combination varies year to year, it is roughly 50/50/ syrah/grenache from vines that range from 20-60 years old. The notion of the "garrigue" figures prominently in this wine with all manner of wild-growing thyme, rosemary, heather, juniper, lavender and blackberries. It's relatively soft and round with spicy black fruit flavours, but nothing would suggest it won't improve in bottle over the next five years—drink now with grilled lamb, beef or soft runny cheese.Tasted: 11 April 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
