Freemark Abbey Chardonnay 2018

Napa Valley, California, United StatesWinemakers Kristy Melton and Ted Edwards are behind this expressive 2018 chardonnay, a modern, slightly slimmer version of the blockbuster Napa chardonnay style. Ripe apples, honey, butterscotch, and citrus come together to entertain. Creamy, soft, and luxurious, this is a crowd-pleasing style that is easy to drink. Try this with turkey or lobster. The complexity comes from a blend of sites and clones, including 55 percent Carneros (clone 76 and clone 96); 35 percent Coombsville AVA on the northeast border of the town of Napa, all clone 4; and 10 percent Howell Mountain, clone 96 and clone 15. It's 92 percent barrel fermented in 47 percent new French oak. A portion undergoes partial malolactic fermentation in the barrel as well, and it’s aged sur lie for ten months with monthly stirrings.Tasted: 11 April 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
