Fort Berens Pinot Noir 2018

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis is a pan-BC pinot noir with fruit from Lillooet, the Okanagan, and Similkameen. It’s just missing the Islands. Naturally fermented, this was aged in French oak for 9 months, presumably older barrels as the oak is not very evident. It’s less of a fruit-driven style, and more about pinot noir’s sous bois and spice. Fairly light-bodied, and only 12.3% abv, the palate is lean with silky tannins and crisp acidity. It makes for a refreshing, savoury style that’s best enjoyed with a slight chill and will certainly appeal to Old World palates. Drinking well now, I don’t know if there’s the fruit to carry this past the next 1-2 years. Recommended.Tasted: 18 June 2020Tasted by: Prices:
