Covert Farms Sparkling Zinfandel Methode Ancestrale 2019

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaZinfandel rosé, done in the ancestrale method. From the Okanagan. And only 8.9% abv. Try putting that in a blind tasting. After a vigorous rush of bubbles, this pours a salmon colour. Early picking has given this an intriguing nose of russet apple, rhubarb, and crushed vitamins alongside some fermentation aromas. The mousse is quite frothy, though it softens over time, with some noticeable residual sugar present. However, the snappy acidity gives this a dryish finish. To this palate, it almost tastes more like a cider than a wine. An interesting discovery for adventurous drinkers. A word of caution: I’d recommend opening this over the sink.Tasted: 28 April 2020Tasted by: Prices:
