Champalou Vouvray 2017

Vouvray, Touraine, Loire, FranceCatherine and Didier Champalou both came from vigneron families and began this domaine in 1983. They farm 21 hectares of vineyards, embracing some biodynamic practices. This, their flagship, is a dry chenin from 35-year-old vines on clay and limestone, fermented in stainless, and with 11 months on lees. Chenin's characteristic waxiness beds the palate, with ample honeysuckle, pear blossom, quince, over a stony base. Acidity is lemon-driven and while subtle, quite omnipresent throughout. Classic, mouth-filling Vouvray, primed for drinking now.Tasted: 26 April 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
