CedarCreek Platinum Block 4 Single Vineyard Pinot Noir 2017

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaWhat a difference a slope makes. Block 4 Pinot Noir comes from the home estate, same as their Block 2 Pinot Noir, but this is up-slope on sandy/clay loams, allowing the 22 year old vines of clones 115 and 667 altitude, and drainage. After a native ferment and 4 weeks in concrete, this spent one year in French oak barrels before bottling without fining or filtration. This is certainly the more elegant of the duo, lighter in hue and body (though only 0.01 degree alcohol separates the two). Silken tannins draw forest berries, lightly smoked plum, cinnamon bark, and fine tobacco along a smooth palate. Tannins are grippy and lightly furry, with a walnut shell bitterness which is alluring. Drinking well now, and will continue as thus in your cellar.Tasted: 30 April 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
