CedarCreek Platinum Block 2 Single Vineyard Pinot Noir 2017

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe 2017 season yielded smaller berries, clusters, and yields, leading to excellent quality fruit. On the palate, you can sum that up as high flavour concentration, moderate alcohol, and balance. The site itself sits on the lower slopes of Home Block vineyard on Lakeshore Road in Kelowna. The block’s clay soils originate from the immense Lake Penticton's post-glacial sediment, the ice age predecessor to Okanagan Lake. The 27 year old vines appear to love the terroir, yielding less spice and more dusty soft tannins shaping a fine mouthfeel from front to back. Look for plummy, dark cherry with a dusty, stony, mineral underside. Impressive and fun to drink now, although I suspect it will keep through 2023 and beyond. Mushrooms, salmon, and pork will all work here. The wine is fermented in and spends four weeks in concrete before ageing 12 months in French oak barrels.Tasted: 01 October 2020Tasted by: Prices:
