Township 7 NBO Blue Terrace Vineyard 2017

Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFully saturated dusky crimson colour is a fitting visual set-up for this hefty wine. The nose is very impressive with cherries, cocoa powder, orange peel, and a delicate stippling of spices. There's also a gamey, sagey aspect, and the shoe polish aromas of high toned oak. The palate is alive with vivid red and black fruit, keen acidity, and quite a bite of tannin at this youthful stage. Broad shouldered and bold, the blend of 60% cabernet sauvignon and 40% merlot comes from a single vineyard in North Bench Oliver and packs a whollop of fruit that is dense but brightened by a savoury freshness. Best with a little bottle ageing, or open at least an hour ahead to help stretch out flavours and tight tannins. A robust meat dish or slab of aged hard cheese is required.Tasted: 15 June 2020Tasted by: Prices:
