M. Chapoutier Domaine de Bila-Haut Visitare Interiore Terrae (V.I.T.) 2017

Côtes du Roussillon Villages, Roussillon, Sud de France, FranceThe Domaine wines of Bila-Haut and Occultum Lapidem are the primary expressions of the local terroir at Cotes du Roussillon Village. but after six years of observation and research, Michel Chapoutier launched an exceptional parcel wine called “V.I.T.,” which stands for “Visitare Interiore Terrae.” The blend is grenache grown on 70-year-old vines situated in the heart of the garrigue scrubland that makes up this exception sub-appellation. Some of the syrah grows on clay/limestone soil, adding power and silky-smooth tannins/textures other syrah grows on schist upping the mineral, stony edges. Add in the “Tramontane” wind that never quits, and you have a fabulous wild wine that expresses the place it came from, Roussillon.Tasted: 18 March 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
