Rigour and Whimsy Rousanne Marsanne Pet Nat 2018
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis rousanne is splashed with 5% marsanne, all from the sustainably farmed Webster Vineyard, in Osoyoos. It was barrel fermented until 2.2 Brix and then went into a bottle where it remained eight months before release. Light and refreshing, as intended, with bitter melon, green and crab apple, sour ale, and ample prickling acidity. Rousanne is not showing its typical showy form here at all, most likely because of a very early pick.
