Erice, Sicily, ItalyThis pours pale garnet, with orange bricking at the rim. The nose is quite savoury and almost devoid of fruit, in the best possible way, with volcanic smokiness, potpourri, leather, rosemary, and game. Don’t let the colour confuse you; this is still medium-full bodied red with a mouth-filling texture and huge, blocky tannins, balanced by nerello mascalese's characteristic vibrant acidity.
