Enfield Wine Co. Pretty Horses 2017

Sierra Foothills, California, United StatesPretty Horses is a lighter, friendlier counterpart to Enfield's more serious Shake Ridge Ranch Tempranillo. Based on that tempranillo vineyard, this is also splashed with 5% graciano and 5% pinot noir, upping the charm quotient. The destemmed lots were gently foot trodden or punched down during the native ferment, after which the wine aged for one year in neutral 500L puncheons and 225L oak barrels, including 15% American oak. This light, pretty, joyous red leads with wild raspberry, fresh plum, wild blueberries, and stones, seasoned with pink peppercorns, red liquorice, and sapid florals. Tannins are cobweb fine and lightly sticky, hugging the 12.9 degree frame to a bright finish. Drink this Cali charmer with a slight chill now.Tasted: 21 January 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
