Domaine de la Touraize Chardonnay Arces 2017

Arbois, Jura, FranceAndré-Jean & Héléana Morin are 8th generation vignerons, now farming their 12 hectares of organically certified estate vineyards in Arbois. They left the local co-op in 2008, built their winery in 2011, and will achieve Demeter biodynamic certification in 2020. Arces is made from 40-year-old chardonnay on calcareous marls, at 350m. After a native fermentation, this aged 18 months in foudre before bottling without filtration. Lovely completeness, with a salted lemon rind, anise, leading into wild herbs, and a pillow of soft lees, with kisses of dark caramel, and layers of stony minerality woven throughout the more delicate palate. 4000 bottles.Tasted: 14 January 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
