Domaine de la Touraize Chardonnay Ammonites 2016

Arbois, Jura, FranceAndré-Jean & Héléana Morin are 8th generation vignerons, now farming their 12 hectares of organic certified estate vineyards in Arbois. They left the local co-op in 2008, built their own winery in 2011, and will achieve Demeter biodynamic certification in 2020. This chardy is rooted on southwest facing gravely blue marls, at 350m, and from vines 30-50 years old from lieux-dit Curoulet, and la Platière. After a native ferment, this rested 2 years in foudre, with no battonage. Beauty reductive licks lure into this round, downy palate, with wild meadow grasses, lees, and river stones to bed. Lemon verbena, lemon pith and flake salts season the top half. This grows with time in the glass, finishing with a chalky grip. Mellow, serious.Tasted: 14 January 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
