Celler la Placeta Vi Blanc 2018

Montsant, Catalunya (Catalonia Cataluña), SpainEls Guiamets, today an important area for red grapes, has historically been an important area for garnaxta blanca, and young husband and wife winemakers / founders Mercè and Quim planted more of the historic grape there in 2015. This young wine was organically farmed from the clay and limestone soils of Molí de la Bleda, from 100-500m, fermented in steel and aged on lees for 3 months. Joyous in youth, with ripe pear, mandarin, juicy peach, orchard blossoms, grapefruit oil, and a kiss of anise running the plump, oily palate. Acidity is also bright, wrapping up the weight on the medium palate with a snappy grapefruit twist. Lovely balance here; looking forward to seeing where this project goes.Tasted: 15 January 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
